Detoxification is the process of neutralising and eliminating toxins from the body and an efficiently working elimination system (bowels, skin, kidneys, lungs and liver) is essential for the true maintenance of health. Toxins are substances that have a harmful effect in the body, and can undermine our health and weaken body systems and organs. Detoxification is perhaps therefore, the single most powerful tool used by natural health professionals to prevent and reverse disease.

Our current lifestyle with stress, high sugar intake, the wrong fats in our highly processed diet, improper food combining, inadequate absorption of nutrients, all abuse the delicate working systems of our body, inhibiting detoxification pathways. This can lead to the development of symptoms such as hormonal problems, fatigue, muscular aches and pains, headaches, infections, debilitating viral illnesses, digestive problems, allergies and even cancer, all indicate that our toxic load is too high. New research confirms that high levels of stress can shift beneficial detox pathways towards harmful detox pathways. Now you can see that having high levels of stress hormones in your blood becomes a major risk factor for developing health problems caused by faulty detoxification and eventually leading to the development of chronic degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer.

A detoxification program will usually produce quite dramatic results and give you increased energy, improved sleep patterns, a sense of peace or calmness, decreased bloating and fluid retention, fewer aches and pains, mental clarity, improved memory and leave you feeling rejuvenated on all levels. The beauty about detoxification therapy is that it addresses the very causative issues of health problems rather than suppressing symptoms with powerful drugs, which can cause significant side effects with prolonged use.
