A word from Jennifer about the new book...
You will find very few similarities in my book to many detoxification programmes that may have once been relevant, but due to the tremendous toxic over-burdening of our body in these times, these regimes must change and adapt to our current circumstances. The majority of the public today have higher stress levels and are generally exhausted, I feel justified in saying that it is more important to give you a programme that has the minimum amount of side effects and stress involved; one that you can enjoy rather than putting you on to an austere, stringent regime that you are unlikely to adhere to. So often in our hectic world, many are inclined to be less compliant with diet and adopting a manageable, slow and gradual way is perhaps the best way forward. This may be breaking away from the norm, which so often encourages short fruit fasts at the end of which, people frequently revert back to their old habits. In my opinion, it is technically inappropriate to embark on a detox for few days and then return to your previous unhealthy lifestyle. Like yo yo dieting, it is harmful to go on and off these types of programmes as it simply stirs up toxins only to be re-embedded when the weekend plan is over and the existing ways are returned to.
Instead, I want to inspire you - to encourage you to embark on a journey, a life time programme to follow and not endorse the quick fix mentality that is part of society today. It will have taken us many years to get into this mess and it simply is not feasible to expect to turn it all around in a week. My belief is, why not enjoy the changes, take it slowly, integrate new foods, change and develop your taste buds to appreciate the fresh flavour of unprocessed, natural, organic foods, herbs and spices, the carrot juice can come later! By bringing in the Eastern approach to detoxification, combined with the latest practical information from the realm of functional medicine, the whole process is less austere and stressful on the body.
The Natural Care Detox Handbook does not merely focus on the physical aspects of detoxification but goes into the emotional and spiritual aspects that need to be nurtured during a program. The emotional and spiritual levels will also further enhance the program and give you extra support and direction to keep you motivated to work through all the levels and experience the benefits fully. Unless you develop that 'indefinable' spark within encouraging and inspiring you on a deeper level, the changes will only be transient and nowhere near as potent and far reaching as they can be.
The Natural Care Detox Handbook is a wake up call written with passion and compassion to help encourage you to really look at your health and well being and how you can turn this around with the help of ancient and modern research as science is validating time old remedies and showing us new ways to detoxify. Your body has an innate desire to be well, to perform at an optimum level and will do so as long as you provide it with the right ingredients that support and nourish it instead of conversely, choosing destructive practices that do nothing to serve your health of your body, your temple.
